Whois Privacy Protection, occasionally also referred to as Privacy or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the authentic contact details of domain owners on WHOIS check sites. Without protection, the name, street address and email of any domain name owner will be publicly visible. Supplying false information during the domain registration procedure or altering the real details subsequently will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the registrant losing their ownership of the domain name. The policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, demand that the WHOIS information must be correct and accurate all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by domain name registrars as an answer to the increasing concerns for potential identity theft. If the protection service is activated, the registrar’s contact details will be shown instead of the domain name registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domains support the Whois Privacy Protection service, even though there are some country-code ones that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Hosting

If you order a hosting package from our company, you will be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domain names on the condition that their extensions support this option. You can register/transfer a domain name and enable Whois Privacy Protection during the account activation process or you can enable the service for any of your domain names at any moment afterwards through the Hepsia Control Panel. The process is amazingly easy – once you log in, you will have to go to the Registered Domains section where you will find a list of all the domains that you’ve registered with us. For each one of them you will see an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, which will tell you if the service is activated or not. By clicking it, you can either Whois Privacy Protect the domain name, or you can deactivate the service if it is currently activated.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with us and you register a domain under it, you can activate our Whois Privacy Protection service without difficulty. This takes only a couple of mouse clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, via which you administer everything related to your semi-dedicated account. This is where you can see all your active domain names and for each of them you’ll find an “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol, using which you can enable, renew or remove the Whois Privacy Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-specific TLD extensions that support this option and you will be able to see this beforehand, so you will not end up ordering a service that we cannot provide.
