SPF, which abbreviates Sender Policy Framework, is an authentication system that is aimed at blocking the so-called email faking. Essentially, it indicates sending some message from one e-mail and making it appear to be sent from a different one with the purpose to scam in some way the individual getting it. In the event that the SPF protection is active for a domain, a record which includes all the mail servers authorized to email messages with addresses within the domain is made. The record is placed on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic worldwide, thus they all will recognize if an e-mail message comes from a trustworthy server or not. The verification is conducted at the first server where the e-mail goes through and in the first case the e-mail message is forwarded, and in the second one it's removed and it never gets to the intended recipient. Applying SPF records for your domain names will stop all unauthorized people from using your email addresses for malicious objectives.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

If you host your domains in a shared hosting account with us and we manage the emails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a few clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. This service is available in a section of its own where you'll be able to view which domain names are already secured. For the ones that are not, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection solution and configure numerous things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to create a rule that emails can be sent only when your domains have our MX records. The last mentioned option is the most secure one, but it can be used if we handle the e-mail addresses for your domain names and you're not using a different email provider. The new records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail with your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you can secure your emails by activating the SPF security service for every domain in the account with only a few mouse-clicks. This can be done through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you have no previous practical experience with these things, you won't have any problems to activate the protection. All that you will need to do will be to find a domain name from a drop-down menu and then type in the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. Once the updated record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be sent worldwide only if they are sent from that server. In case your e-mail addresses are taken care of by us and not by some third-party provider, you will also be able to benefit from an option for emails to be sent only when the domain contains our MX records and the latter would be the safest option.
